Hey everyone, since I got my Kindle Scribe I’ve started reading (with big font on big screen) while walking outside. I was talking about this with my friend and he reacted like I was nuts and possibly endangering myself.
I had a buddy in college who would read while walking around the city. I don’t think I could stay focused on a book and dodge cars. Maybe if my skill was better this would work for me.
So I’m really curious how you all feel about this— is it just me or do you read while walking too?

Nah, I listen to audiobooks and play Pokémon Go. 😁
it depends on where i am. when i visited paris i read on public transportation and while walking slowly around. in my home area in the suburbs, no
Absolutely not – I read while walking around my house and constantly walk into things or lose my place in the story to look up and see if I’m about to walk into things. Doing it outside would get me whacked quickly
text to speech or a podcast/audiobook instead
I listen to audiobooks.
I have, but it was real books. I never could get the lighting right on a kindle for it to not bother me when outside. but I havn’t had one in a long time now.
I also have excellent peripheral vision though.
No, I don’t read while walking but I have a neighbor who does, and it surprises me every time I see him doing this. If I’m walking and I want to experience a book, I listen to an audiobook.
People look at their phone screens while they walk. They also sometimes lose track of their surroundings and could trip or bump into things. As long as you keep your wits about you, I don’t think you’re endangering yourself any more than anyone else. Stick to predictable paths, not crossing busy streets.
If you want to read while walking, audiobooks are an option.
No. That’d feel super unsafe to me tbh
I used to do this when I worked in downtown San Francisco. I’d start reading on the train and I’d read walking down the street to my office. Never did it walking home, though.
Hell no.
I’ll read while walking on a treadmill but that’s it. That or audiobooks.

This is hella dumb. Your buddy is right.
