A book series similar to Harry potter? Assist a novice reader

Hi all,

I was recommended a book series today by a coworker that was on Amazon Kindle and Kobo.

The series centerd on a girl in a magical academy being persecuted by an evil necromancer who wanted to destroy the whole muktiverse/universe and she gets roped in and has to stop it.

He mentioned the series was like “if hermonie granger was the m.c of her own series and you’ll like it if you liked Harry potter”.

Edit:

Added detail but the front cover of the first book shows a young teenage/adult looking girl with a sinister looking robed person behind her.

The series had around 20 or more books. They cost like 75$ on Amazom and 55$ on Kobo today when I checked.

I’m going legit crazy trying to look through DM to find this.
