My mom and I recently read Little Women together and she really loved the book, but would want to read something else similar that’s not as lengthy. She’s looking for something that’s easy to read that’s like a breath of fresh air you can relax with after a long day of work. Perhaps in a modern setting?
    Thanks!

Maybe The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna? It’s been quite a while since I read Little Woman, so I can’t really speak on similarities, but I think it qualifies as a modern easy but fun read to relax with after a long day of work

    2. Those pricey thakur girls and the sequel the House that BJ built have similar vibes but are set in modern day India.

      The author is Anuja Chauhan

You might try another Alcott: An Old Fashioned Girl. It’s not quite as long.

      Seventeen by Maureen Daly

See if you can locate anything by the following:
      Helen Markley Miller
      Elizabeth Hamilton Friermood

      A Little Princess by Burnett

      Linnets and Valerians by Goudge

      The Railway Children by Nesbit

    4. 1. “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave is a modern-day suspense novel that echoes “Little Women.” It features a female protagonist navigating complex relationships and a mystery that keeps the reader engaged.

      2. “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” by Lisa See is another great option for fans of “Little Women.” Set in China, it follows the story of a young woman’s journey from poverty to success as a tea farmer. It’s a beautiful and heartwarming tale that will stay with you long after you finish it.

      3. “Eternal Gods Die Too Soon” by Beka Modrekiladze is a speculative fiction novel that blends science and philosophy with a poignant exploration of love, loss, and identity. Its multiverse setting and thought-provoking themes make it a unique and captivating read.

Anne of Green Gables series or The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery

Little Men and Jo’s Boys are the sequels to Little Women (personally I always liked them better – the boys have more fun and Amy is much less of a twit as an adult)

Eight Cousins and a Rose in Bloom (also by Alcott)

For a more modern cozy story try Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg
