I am struggling for direction and motivation in life after some major changes (quit my job and ended my relationship). I am currently unemployed and unattached and trying to figure what to do with my life. I have never liked the idea of ‘self help’ books but suddenly they seem appealing to me. I am not looking for anything that recommends some golden formula for happiness or hard fast rules to follow for life. Can anyone recommend a genuine, realistic, helpful but inspiring book?

Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed. It’s a series of letters written to people who wrote for life advice, beautifully written.
Gifts of Imperfection (and other books by Brene Brown)
Look into Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. He was overweight, working a job he hated, and then completely turned his life around. Everything he says in the book is extremely motivating even though it’s technically not meant to be a self help book.
