I’d love some mysteries to get into. There are so many out there that finding the good stuff feels impossible.
I love forensics, procedurals, murder mysteries, serial killers, and even a bit of horror. Most listed here are contemporary, but I also love historical fiction. I’m okay with most content, although I just lost my cat and wouldn’t want to read about the death of a pet.
A handful of my favorites:
– Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver (not amazing writing, but I love the forensics and the twists)
– Kenzie and Gennaro series by Dennis Lehane
– Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
– The Dry by Jane Harper (I also own the next two books)
– The Outsider by Stephen King
– The Poet by Michael Connelly
– Gillian Flynn (especially Dark Places)
– Rage Against the Dying by Becky Masterman
– And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
– The Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter (I’ve only read the first two, plus Pretty Girls. Thinking about starting Cop Town or Blindsided next. Triptych was GREAT.)
A few authors I’m considering: Carol Goodman, Louis Beynard, Alex Grecian, Charles Todd
A few books I own, haven’t read: The Alienist (Carr), The Life We Bury (Eskens), The Winter People (McMahon), Stone’s Fall (Pears), Mrs. Mohr Goes Missing (Szymiczkowa), City of Windows (Pobi)
There are a ton of popular authors that have been around for quite a while that I’ve been curious about, like Patricia Cornwell and Nevada Barr, but I’m not sure how well they hold up and/or if they’re what I’m looking for.
I’d especially love some serial killer fiction but I’ll take anything mentioned above!
TIA!
