I’m going to the US for work and will have an empty suitcase I can fill with books to bring home, is there anything (more easily) available in the US that I can’t get in Europe? E.g. American editions that aren’t published overseas or similar.
I read mostly literary fiction and not many American authors so would like to make an effort to bring back rarer or interesting books when I come back.

I cannot answer exactly the question about rarer books, but American covers are generally very different from those published in Europe. That includes British editions, generally very different covers.
Honestly, just skim lists of American litfic and pick up things you don’t recognize. I have specific suggestions but I honestly have no idea if they’re widely available in Europe so I cannot speak to rarity or anything like that.
It’s a common thing for Americans to prefer the EU covers, btw, but I tend to think both are interesting.
