I usually buy physical copies for the stuff I know I’ll like, but I’m trying to increase my reading time with audiobooks without blowing through Audible credits with things i might not get into. Browsing the available selection at my local library was not promising. Any ideas how to get access to more?

    1. Can you access Hoopla Digital using your library card? Their collection isn’t related to your local library.

    2. Yeah, find another library that you qualify for, e.g. when I was living in CA you could get a San Francisco Library card w/ an address anywhere in CA. Maybe a big city in your state does similar?

    3. Libby allows you to request that your library buy a book. Do that, often. You certainly won’t get 100% of what you ask for, but you might get some, and whoever’s managing the collection might begin to understand that there’s a demand for scifi/fantasy.

    4. My library doesn’t offer any audiobooks through Libby but does through hoopla and boundless. Worth checking if there’s another service they have.

    5. Some states have programs that allow you to get a ‘sister’ membership with other libraries that can expand the collection available to you. There are quite a few libraries that also offer non-resident cards. [There’s a website here](https://everyday-reading.com/where-you-can-get-a-non-resident-library-card/) that lists quite a few of them. My biggest tip would be that if you travel, see if the libraries in the state/s you visit offer a tourist card – usually they last around 3 months!

There’s also a libby sub [r/libbyapp](https://www.reddit.com/r/LibbyApp/) with some tips and card sharing (:
