Nearly every book I see that or get suggested really looks interesting ends up having a hold on it in Libby. I know everyones library will be different (I go through the largest in my state). But it’s usually its a 2+ month wait. I am going to be out of the country for a few months and would like to load up my kindle before I go.
I would love any hidden gem suggestions. I am usually into sci-fi and fantasy but I have been wanting to expand out into other fiction genres.
Thanks!

Try some that are older and your library may have unlimited licenses for them.
Around the world in 80 Days by Jules Verne
The Time Machine or The War of the Worlds by HG Wells
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
You could also consider getting a month of kindle unlimited if you are not opposed to paying. They have a fair bit of fantasy/sci-fi like Witcher series, Third Law series, She Who Became The Sun, dark academia like Ninth House etc.
Otherwise as another user said, classics have a lot of options. Seconding HG Wells in particular!
Older books by Robert J Sawyer, John Varley, William Gibson, Kim Stanley Robinson, Robert Silverburg, Ben Bova, Greg Bear, Harry Turtledove, and Harry Harrison are probably available.
You can probably find a lot of Best of Anthologies
I just did a run through of Jean M Auel’s Clan of the Cavebear novels a few months ago
You might be able to find the entire Honor Harrington or 1632 series (only 1632 and 1633 need to be read first then you can pick and choose which story line to follow).
Greg Bear put out a lot of novels in the 1990s that were great. Darwin’s Radio and Darwin’s Children are both great
Kim by Rudyard Kipling is one of the earliest spy novels and still holds up as a great story.
How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu and Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi are both good looks at the pandemic from different perspectives
Fantastic Land by Mike Bockoven is just creepy and wonderful
Non Fiction by Mark Kurlansky is well researched and a good story
Novels by Christopher Moore are great Fun, especially the vampire trilogy and Lamb
Two newer books that might have lots of copies are Babel and Cahokia Jazz.
