I’ve recently discovered a fondness for upmarket fiction, really in any genre, so I’d love for some recommendations for short stories, short story collections/anthologies and novellas.
Primarily I’m looking for anything in the following genres, that might also be considered literary fiction or upmarket:
* mystery (modern Agatha Christie-esque fiction would be lovely)
* suspense
* thriller
* horror (would love recommendations that aren’t Stephen King, but would also welcome King recs, would also love modern gothic horror)
* any fantasy that isn’t heroic/epic/grimdark
* really anything that is upmarket.
* preferably no smut/romance, unless it is a subplot in an otherwise compelling narrative
