Hey, I’m looking for books that will absolutely destroy me and leave me crying for the rest of the year. I’ve tried No Longer Human and some others like the bell jar and I appreciated the sense of alienation that No Longer Human captured but I felt like the sense of crushing emotion that I’m seeking for wasn’t the point of that book. The only one which really felt destroying was White Knights… Please if you have any books that really drive home that anti happy ending, that drop to your knees and break down into tears feeling I’d love to hear what you have to say, thank you.

It’s speculative fiction about a sort of apocalyptic event…

I had a very hard time with this book. It deals with the loss of children and what parents do to get them back.

It’s classified as horror but in more of a horrifying and dreadful way rather than keep the lights on kind of horror. I had to put it down and come back a couple of times.

    2. After you’ve given other suggestions a shot, read Camus’ The Stranger. It’s for the soul that’s already been destroyed, so a post-.
