Horror isn’t a genre I read (yet) but I’m not really averse to it either. All I know about his writing is that he wrote some horror but that’s not all of his work. I know nothing about his writing style or prominent themes in his stories. And I’m curious! What makes for a good Stephen King book, and where would you recommend someone start? I don’t regularly read multiple books by one author – just a handful of writers for whom I really wanted more. And if it’s helpful, those writers are folks like Anthony Doerr, Madeline Miller, Susanna Clarke, Emily St. John Mandel, Fredrik Backman, and James McBride.
I’m down with mysteries and suspense, and maybe horror – don’t really know. I love good stories and compelling characters.
Thanks!
