I was cooking today, listening to some Steinbeck (Travels with Charley) when I heard a passage that literally overtook me with emotion and I had to take a seat, pause it and stare into space for about 2 minutes. Such is the power of great literature. I find immense pleasure in these moments. I wonder, what are some books that you think contain overwhelming passages of the sort that I described above? I’d love for you to share them with me.

‘The NPC’ chapter in Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. It took me so long to finished it, I had to keep putting the book down because I couldn’t stop crying.
I love this quote from it:
>!”Memory, you realized long ago, is a game that a healthy-brained person can play all the time, and the game of memory is won or lost on one criterion: Do you leave the formation of memories to happenstance, or do you decide to remember?”!<
