I recently finished The First Bad Man and absolutely fell in love with it. It was gross and weird but something kept me reading it! I felt the same way about No One Belongs Here More Than You as well – I’m struggling to find something that piques my interest similar to these books; I think mainly I appreciate the unusual interactions between the characters, spontaneity and magical realism aspects.
I’m also a big fan of Murakami for similar reasons, though I think I’m more drawn in by the fast pace and absurdist and feminist elements of July’s work. Any recommendations?? 🙂
