I love Pride and Prejudice and Stardust and the hate to love trope or arranged marriage ropes but I hate how a lot of modern romance books are written. I particularly hate when the main characters hatw someone but constantly describe how hot they are.
I recently read Starling House and I quite enjoyed the romance aspect of it, particularly because it did not focus on physical attraction.
I am looking for something similar where the characters fall for each other slowly over the course of the whole book.
Other similar books I have read: The Night Circus, Uprooted (although I enjoyed the set up for the romance I actually found its development quite unsatisfying), North and South, Northanger Abbey
