Im on a reading slump and i have my kindle beside me. Can you suggest me a book? I really want to get scared and if it is set in the ocean or underwater (similar to sphere by michael crichton) it would be a plus!
Professor Dowell’s Head by Alexander Belyaev, a Russian horror classic about an insane surgeon and his grotesque experiments on captive psychiatric patients.

The Deep by Nick Cutter is deep ocean horror. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s hit or miss from what I’ve seen. A grab bag of reactions to it.
I did read The Troop by him, set in a forest, which is one of my personal favorite settings. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining and gruesome enough to pull you out of a reading slump.

The Terror by Dan Simmons. Fictionalized account of lost northwest passage expedition in the 1800’s.
