I’ve just finished The Trees by Perceval Everett and whilst reading, realised that I was enjoying it so much because it falls into the genre that I’ve always loved the most – books which somehow manage hilarity despite progressive descent into trauma and horror. My two favourite books are Catch-22 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and I’ve read around 1960s satire a lot.
With that in mind, has anyone got any suggestions, from any time period, that pull off what I enjoy the most? Thank you!
