I want to start reading books about the Wild West, sheriffs, cowboys and all that stuff (I’ve had a fairly limited encounter with such books in the past as it wasn’t one of my interests). I guess the most appropriate trm for it is “spaghetti western”?
I would like to read stories in which the main character is a positive hero, and not some dirty criminal (i.e., an honest sheriff, or a free gunslinger who restores justice, or at least an anti-hero like Robin Hood, but only in the setting of prairies of the Frontier. Bonus points if the book was written by a contemporary who had first-hand knowledge of the Wild West (but this is not necessary)
