For me, this isn’t really a problem. I think, a book can be still amazing without it containing LGBTQ+ themes. Not every book needs to contain it. i think it’s kinda absurd to criticise a book by saying stuff like: “this book series sucked because there werent any gay people in it” “it doesn’t have any LGBTQ+ representation” I don’t think authors are obligated to include lgbt in books if they don’t “want” and/or there isn’t any need to becuase maybe it’s a certain type of book etc. and some even call/asumme the authors are homophobic and apparently thats why(Well, it MAY actually be in some cases though that may be the reason).
