Written by Blake Crouch I listened to this book right before the pandemic and to this day after reading (more like listening) to 50+ science fiction books it’s still my most adored read. Idk if it was the narrator Jon Linstrom who’s easily my favorite, or the way the hard science blended together to make a compelling plot/story for the book. Was just curious if anyone else had this take on what I’d consider a masterpiece.

Blake Crouch did an AMA here in /r/books [you might want to take a look](https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/gab306/im_blake_crouch_author_of_many_bestselling_books/) 🙂 . [Here’s a full list of our upcoming AMAs](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/wiki/amafullschedule)

I’ve not read Dark Matter yet but many friends of mine say that Dark Matter is pretty good because it’s a really good sci-fi book with a great story and interesting science stuff.
I loved it. It was a fun page-turning thought experiment. I am looking forward to the Apple TV adaption coming out in May.
Recursion is also great if you haven’t read that yet.
It’s pretty good. Crouch always takes the consequences of the technology just far enough that you’re uncomfortable. Considering how short his books are it’s a fine line between hope and despair.
I like a lot of Blake Crouch, especially “Dark Matter” and “Recursion”, but his most recent one “Upgrade” was not very good. That one should have been a short story.
I thought it was just okay. There was too much that was left open ended for me and I couldn’t help but feel it was written with the intention of it being picked up for a movie or tv series.
I’ve also read Upgrade and didn’t love it either- I think Blake is probably just not for me!
Dont know how to describe it without resorting to politics so beware:
>!If you are a conservative politically you will like BC.!<
>!If you are a lefty/progressive, go with Project Hail Mary &or Bobiverse.!<
>!Whichever camp you in, will think other is so-so at best. All based on the MC’s motivations and choices. & The narrators chosen fit my separation perfectly as well.!<
It has been year+ since i listened to the BC & thought it was NOT memorable, so as much as I would luv one of you to debate me on this opinion, I wont be able to back up with details/facts off the BC side. Only reason I remember BC is because he is so over-rated.
I recently finished it and thought it was great. It’s fast food, not fine dining, and I could easily criticise bits of it, but the beauty of the storytelling allowed me to brush all the criticism aside with a big grin on my face.
I have it and have read it a few times and love it every time
