I just read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, and both the Ministry of Utmost Happiness and The God of Small things by Arundhati Roy and y’all. I’m so sad.

(All are great books and the God of Small things is absolutely transcendently beautiful – but so sad!)

Can someone help me with a palate cleanser? A lighter read preferably with brown people NOT being miserable?

I love the #1 ladies detective agency. I read Binti, wasn’t too impressed but gladly welcome Sci Fi and fantasy. I think Becky Chambers characters are POC, I enjoyed the first Wayfarers book.

Pls no more sexual assault and rape I’m burned out

If you’re okay with fantasy romance, “The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches” has a brown main character and the book is very light and lovely and joyful. It wasn’t my favorite in terms of the writing style but the optimism and storyline are both very refreshing.
