On the A *Canticle for Leibowitz* thread, there are several people (including self) who reference the fact that that novel won a Hugo award and that was an indicator that the book might be quite good.
I was just scanning down the list of Hugo award winners and there is a fair slice of lost-without-trace novels and some out-right stinkers. One respondent dismissed the entire 2023 list.
The Arthur C. Clarke award has been a pretty good guide.
The Booker prize (in my opinion) seldom includes anything I consider worth reading (Notable exceptions for Iain Banks and Roddy Doyle).
So fellow bookworms, which awards do you trust? Why? Are they all hit-miss affairs?
