Fictional novel with themes of depression, drug abuse/addiction, dark humour, satire, gritty..

Authors I like are Bukowski, Burroughs, Kerouac, Murukami, Palahniuk, Alex Garland (The Beach)

I want something that explores the drudgery of life, and how a character may, in their own way, cope with that and maybe find fulfillment.. Doesn’t have to be a happy ending, but don’t want it to be totally depressing throughout

I imagine someone will recommend Infinite Jest.. (not sure if I am ready to take that on)

I know what I am looking for is very niche… but yeah, please recommend away !!
