I have been reading a fairly random mix of hard scifi, historical fiction, horror and crime novels for the last few years.
I read shogun fairly randomly and then realised halfway through that it was now a TV series. I forgot how books like this and the works like this and by other authors like Valerio Massimo Manfredi can really grip me.
I have read quite a lot of scattered Japanese fiction and would like to explore more books like the list following, set in Japan/Korea/China. I would prefer a female protagonist or at least a female protagonist being amongst the key people
Books/authors I like: shogun, Murakami’s works (I don’t like short stories), stephen baxter, william gibson, terry pratchett, charles stross,

as a slightly niche thing, but books around building, woodworking, gardening and cooking would also be cool.

Thank you!
