She’s non-native and gets lost in a lot of flowery philosophical stuff that bounces from present tense to past. Can’t really do scifi and fantasy that uses a lot of made-up world building language. Ideally something under 200 pages.
She likes murder, detective stuff, sexy, monsters, vampires, haunted house, modern settings, etc.
She recently finished Cassandra Khaw’s Hammers on Bone (her other books are too wordy) and loved that.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: We lived in Japan for several years and she loves the Japanese novellas as well.
