Authors who pay attention to nature?

I have always enjoyed authors who are a bit like me in this regard; I like going on hikes and experiencing nature (identifying species I see etc). So I have noticed that authors vary wildly in this regard, some barely going beyond the human interactions, but an example of someone who does pay some attention to nature is e.g. Tolkien (in his own fantastical way). Who can you recommend?
