I am going to volunteer at a local memory care facility. I’ll be reading out loud to a group that has varying levels of memory challenges. My time slot will run approximately 45 minutes. I will return once a week and read again. This group will not remember the story from week to week. I am looking for books with short stories that are easy to understand and fairly pleasant. I will be doing this for the forseeable future, so more than one suggestion would be great.

All creatures great and small by James Herriot might be a good one! It’s an older book about a rural vet, very funny and sweet. My family and other animals is another fun set of stories set on Corfu.
Cheaper by the Dozen by Frank B Gilbreth Jr.
if they won’t remember the story from week to week, you can just keep reading the same book over and over.
i’m just kidding, but also kinda not. it would be interesting to see if anyone called you out for recycling a story 😂
Our residents really like the short anecdotes in the “Chicken Soup” series and things Ike Erma Bombeck’s essays.
My loved one’s memory care has a lady that comes and reads children’s books. Easy to understand, and the nostalgia of them are appreciated.
I would pick your own favorites and pepper in some newer ones like Pete the Cat and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
