I’m in a book club with a few friends (women in their 30s), and it’s my job to choose the October book. Since it’s around Halloween, I’d love something spooky or witchy. The catch is that many of the book club members don’t like anything creepy! Especially nothing scary or gory.
I’m looking for something that will give Halloween vibes while still feeling cozy or happy.
Thank you!

A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny
Could you go nostalgic instead of cozy and read “In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories”? The girl with the ribbon around her neck still freaks me out, I don’t understand how this was a “children’s” book.

A Letter to Three Witches by Elizabeth Bass was pretty fun.
Our Wives Under the Sea, it’s listed as horror, but it’s mainly light body horror, it has a rich atmospheric creepy menacing mood to it and captures that anxiety and fear of the submersible at the Titanic last summer.
