I’ve been dealing with suicidal tendencies of my own for a while now. I was recently put on medication, and though they have helped, the suicidal thoughts are still present. I know family and friends just want to help me as best as they can, my aunt vaguely understands what I’m going through and bought me ‘The Midnight Library’ for my birthday. I massively appreciate her providing support in this way, I read the book, but just found it painfully generic. All this I’d read and known for a while. A few quotes stuck out to me, but nothing really cut deep and gave me that hope I wanted. I am in therapy, I already mentioned medication, I’d just like to strive to read more about similar experiences. It’s comforting to know that people have risen and found the will to live who have dealt with things I’ve dealt with.

To people who have gone through something similar to me, what books surrounding this subject really stood out to you? I feel the need to mention, that like most ppl, I have good days and bad days. This isn’t constant, but it’s present enough to cause me a lot of discomfort. Today was just one of those bad days, yk? Anyway, many, many thanks.

I can recommend Everyone in this Room will someday be dead by Emily Austin. It was a really fun and simultaneously sad read. The protagonist is a woman who really struggles with life. I remember there were a lot of profound messages in the book.
