Suggest me a book where the dynamic between the mc and villain is the main focus.

Like the title said, I’m looking for a book where the dynamic between the villain and mc is the main focus. Especially if the characters have history with each other prior to the villain becoming evil.

I’m a sucker for ‘the only person who can kill you is me’ trope, so it would be nice if that dynamic is present, but its not a hard rule!I am a sucker for angst, and i live for the character drama! Some cool battles are always nice, but again, its perfectly ok if its not there.

I would prefer if romance isn’t the main focus, but its not a deal breaker.
(Although i do think it could be interesting if its one sided, especially on the villains end.)

At the end of the day, I’m not super picky. If you have something that fits the main title description, or something similar that you think i might like, please put it here!

Tldr: I’m looking for a book where the villain and mc are closely tied, ideally with some angst/drama, and maybe some cool fight scenes sprinkled in.
