English is my second language and sometime ago I’ve decided to have everything in English to get better. As a non-fiction reader, I thought I was quite good.

Until I decided I wanted to read some fiction just before bedtime. Tried to pickup the Discworld series last week and reality hit hard. I couldn’t even read more than one sentence without having to lookup the dictionary. That’s painfully tiresome as a doze off book and I’m here asking for recommendations.

After giving up, I looked up for something more easy on me. I just finished “Holes” and although it was a funny simple read, it seemed too simple and light.

A long time ago I read “Stoner”. I liked the story and what it tried to convey as a whole, but found the book a bit boring.

I know I don’t want to pick up Harry Potter. Sci-fi is also something I don’t seem interested right now. Something with adventure, grounded in reality but with a bit of fantasy/magic/superstition would be nice but not mandatory. If I can go to bed and dream about the world I’m reading about, the better. I also don’t mind suggestions not related to this preferences.

Unfortunately I don’t have more fiction references because I’m only now starting to read for fun. Thank you!
