I’ve found myself more and more interested in fictional stories exploring some of the weirder parts of Christianity, its doctrine, its aesthetics, etc. For example, I loved these elements in some of the better pats of “The Da Vinci Code” and books from The Dresden Files. Or think movies like “The Conjuring.” Anything with Demonology, or a focus on the Gnostic gospels, etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

*Good Omens* (Gaiman & Pratchett): a religious satire novel about an angel and demon working to prevent the apocalypse
*The Screwtape Letters* (C.S. Lewis): a collection of letters between two demons
*The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner* (James Hogg): psychological horror about a Calvinist religious fanatic
*The Master and the Margarita* (Mikhail Bulgakov): novel about Satan, a magician, putting on performances in Soviet Russia
*Between Two Fires* (Christopher Buehlman): historical fiction set against the backdrop of a war between Heaven and Hell
*I, Lucifer* (Glen Duncan): psychological novel about Lucifer, the devil, living as a struggling writer
These books represent a fairly broad spectrum with regards to religious controversy, from apologetic novels to parodies of Christian beliefs. Hope this helps!
