I joined a Bookly app “readathon” and was given the following prompts to follow;
1. A book with a complex political system
2. A book with a transformative journey
3. A book set in a desert like environment
I was wondering if anyone could help me find some books that fit these? My favorite kinds of reads are political thrillers, dystopian, fantasy, high fantasy, mystery, history, historical fiction, and some sci-fi, but I have no qualms about stepping out of those genres. Really the only thing I’m not a huge fan of is romance, no hate it’s just not for me. TIA!❤️

Have you read the Bobiverse series?
I would recommend Snow Crash or The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson for a complex political system. They’re both sci-fi
Parable of the Sower (Octavia Butler) could work for the prompt about the transformative journey. It’s dystopian cli-fi.
I feel like Dune could work for all of these.
For 2 and 3, check out the Binti Trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor. Her woorldbuilding and storytelling are excellent- and not such a huge commitment as getting into Dune…I mean no disrespect, but that is a long slog- try Binti first!!!
