When Mustafa Mond prevents John from leaving London be cause “the experiment must continue” – what if the experiment is John’s entire life?
Linda was heavily conditioned into taking her birth control religiously. She also has no idea how she could have gotten pregnant. What’s more, her disgust and shame about being a mother is such that it would be completely out of character for her to just “forget” to take her pills.
Also, consider that even if she didn’t try to go back to London due to the shame of becoming a mother, she must have stood out like a sore thumb in that reservation. So did John. Reports of her must have been made.
Mustapha also mentions that they’ve done all sorts of experiments to test they’re assumptions about their system, such as an alpha-only island.
What if the new world order knew all along that they were there. Observing, taking note.
Now, what would be the motivation? Maybe to see what would happen if you integrate savages into the new world (John)? Maybe to see how the conditioning would preserver or deteriorate outside of their environment (Linda)?
What do you all think?
