Im a creature of habit and live most of my life in a very defined comfort zone. I’ve realized recently how boring it truly is so I’m trying to push my boundaries, including in my reading. I normally read sappy romance and young adult, but I’ve started to explore the disturbing horror genre after realizing how much I like horror movies. I’ve just read the book Playground by Aron Beauregard. Please suggest me some books similar to it. I can handle gore and disturbing themes but I’m not great with plain out gross things (such as the sex scenes in Playground). So please suggest creepy, disturbing, unsettling horror!

    1. Tender is the flesh. It’s pretty known in the horror book genre.

Woom. This one’s a bit more… psychological per-say. There’s alot of just… messed up stuff.

No exactly horror, but both Child of God and Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy are very dark and gothic and yes, disturbing.

Kinda obvious, but since no one’s mentioned it yet – American Psycho.
