this might be a little too specific lol but im very new to reading and have been wanting to read fantasy, but ive found that a Lot of fantasy has romance which i tend to avoid. i wont drop a book over it if its just like a sub-sub-subplot like in The Fifth Season (possibly my favorite book ive read so far if it matters for recommendations) where its mentioned in like 15/500 pages, or if there’s a character who just so happens to be married or something like that.
id really like something high/mid fantasy, bonus points if its got elves, dungeon/cave exploring(!!!) and/or horseback riding, and not to sound like an edgelord but i also love reading about bloody deaths and torture and gore in general, something thats not afraid to make death sound as brutal and painful as it truly is. something with overall very dark tones i would love. absolutely doesn’t have to be constant gore and blood and trauma but just like. a good amount. like a nice big spoonful, if you will 🙂
