For me it seems to be Murakami.
I absolutely loved Norwegian Wood, but having read the Wind Up Bird Chronicle and now just coming to the end of Kafka on the Shore, I guess neither of them have gripped me, and they feel like they’re trying a bit too hard at times to be *weird*. I can still appreciate some of the prose, but going from a book I couldn’t put down, which filled me with such melancholy, to these two, which took months to get through and were ultimately forgettable, was quite surprising.

Andy Weir.
Loved The Martian, got bored with anything else.
For me that’s kinda Stephen King. I loved some of hit books but others were just too slow for my liking.
Neil Gaimen. I loved Stardust. But didn’t care for American Gods or Neverware.
