I just finished the second book, and I’m not really sure if I should go on to the third one. The first book really pulled me in, and I was curious enough about what would happen in the series that I continued with the second one, but honestly I sort of hated it. It’s confusing, how most reviews I’ve seen seem to love it. Rin is one of the worst characters I’ve had the displeasure of reading about. She’s incredibly stupid and impulsive, is powerhungry and yet shies away from taking any responsibility or initiative, and has no sympathy for anyone but herself. It’s more than her simply being unlikable though. I find it hard to believe in her character, that an actual human being would act like that. And she isn’t very interesting to read about either. None of the characters were great honestly. It just feels like this could have been so much more, and it failed. I think I need a bit of time to cool down lol Then I’ll either read the third one or find a wikipedia article to just get it done with.
