I’m part of a book club of women “of a certain age.” The club has met continuously for over 30 years; I joined about 10 years ago. Members are well educated, voracious readers. It’s my turn to host in June, and I’m always terrible at picking a book. Parameters:
    * must be readily available at public libraries, electronic versions, paperback. Not everyone can afford to/wants to buy a hardcover of the latest release.
    * must be of literary value and discussion-worthy. This club reads a lot of acclaimed or award-winning books of all genres.
    * can be of recent vintage or a classic (we recently read Mrs Dalloway)
Examples: A Gentleman in Moscow, The Covenant of Water, Pachinco, The Underground Railroad, News of the World, Demon Copperhead

    2. I liked “The Women”. It is about an army nurse in vietnam during the war. It touches on the issue of women in the military back then, the whole vietnam issue, womens rights, the hiopie movement. I was in high school in the early 70’s, so it was a perspective that I hadn’t considered.
