Out of these options, I’ve only read House of Leaves. I think the book is classified as ergodic, meaning it takes effort and focus. There are various elements and subplots that use footnotes and letters to tell different parts of the story. Some footnotes will go on for several pages as one character’s subplot unfolds through the footnotes. The format of the book is an important part of how the book is experienced. If you decide to read it, it’s definitely best to read a physical copy. To me it has an eerie feeling during parts of it and felt a bit unsettling at times. I honestly got tired of it after a while but I’m glad I finished it. The main plot/idea is about a house that is bigger on the inside than the outside and about the family that lives there.

      Icebreakers is smutty romance.

House of Leaves isn’t really horror, it’s more postmodern metatextual fuckery then anything else. It’s a tough read, especially without grounding in the genre.

What’s going on in your life that those are the books you’re choosing between?
