The Terror by Dan Simmons. It’s an excellent historical suspense novel. It was a lot easier to follow what was going on after I noticed that each chapter heading started with the date. 😳😳

* The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, historical fiction. This book has an interesting story-within-a-story-within-a-story structure with in-universe newspaper excerpts.
* Stealing Buddha’s Dinner by Bich Min Nguyen, a memoir. Many, many years ago I went to a speech by the author and there was time for the audience to ask questions, and I asked how she decided what order to put each section in, since they aren’t chronological but they totally work. Tragically, I’ve forgotten what her answer was!
* The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin, fantasy

* Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, a sci fi classic. Do be aware [there is one notable historical inaccuracy](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/f6rspv/in_slaughterhouse_five_vonnegut_gives_an_estimate/) even though Vonnegut was personally present at the historical event described in the text.
