So my reading goal for this year is 100 books, which is something I’ve always wanted to do but want to really make it happen this year. I’m currently at 27 but I’ve been mostly reading ya (whether it be fantasy or romance).
Anyway, I’m starting to get bored with the category and want to try something else but I’m not exactly sure what.
I’ve tried mystery and could never get into any. I’m thinking maybe thrillers, historical fiction, maybe something women empowerment, but tbh I think I’m not too picky?
But I want it to be a good book and I don’t want anything more than maybe like 400 pages so that I can try to make my reading goal (if its a little over that’s fine, or a lot shorter, I just don’t want anything crazy long)

How about [Fortune Favors the Dead](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/eb8c7ae9-41b0-442b-b3f1-8e01870fe219) by Stephen Spotswood? It’s a mystery, but it’s very good and fits a lot of your other criteria.
I liked the silent patient by Alex michaelides. It’s like a mystery but also a psychological thriller
I recently read one called Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata.
It’s certainly different!
Also read Kappa by Ryunosuke Akukagawa. About this man who gets “kidnapped” essentially by these frog like creatures.
It was a short read. Like less than an hour.
