I became a book worm when I was a teenager (i read only classic authors, Dickens, Carroll, Wilde, Doyle, Tolstoi… etc) and then **I had to be** a book worm to finish Sociology. (reading a lot of philosophy, Marx, Foucault, Giddens..etc).
Now Im in my early 30s and I feel like every book I buy is boring… I do not enjoy mystery (everyone seems to love this genre) I simply do not care enough… I also don’t have the capacity to memorise a family tree of names, I get lost with these mystery novels “Marie did this but Mark didn’t care and Paul said so but Helen went up and Rose couldn’t care less..” you know what I mean?
I enjoy radical writers that make me question myself and the world, with provoking ideas or with an acid sense of humor, for an average story with mediocre expression I would rather just watch a movie.
The most recent book (XXI) that someone gave me was “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” and even tho it was so repetitive (i would just skip pages) it gave me some interesting tips to life. (Although I had read Enchiridion of Epictetus and other greek classics that are similar to that self help) Self help books that are innovative are welcome too.
Can you recommend a book that won’t leave me indifferent or that will make me laugh with shock or about a topic that is rare and will surprise me to learn about… or a good novel, one that keeps you there turning pages, not because you want to get to the end but because you actually enjoy while it lasts. A book depicting a real but rare lifestyle from ours, or an ingenious charismatic criminal that is not stupid…
SOMETHING SPECIAL / NEURODIVERGENT
(I do not enjoy conspiracy theory books either)
