I read these books two years ago and they quickly became my favourite. I haven’t been able to find anything that comes close since. SuperbGil on April 18, 2024 12:28 am I haven’t found anything that surpasses them either, but some other favorites of mine and their similarities are: – just about anything else by Naomi Novik (obviously writing style & the excellent worldbuilding) – The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden (also has a strong FMC & interesting subplot romance) – His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (also YA leads in fantasy and similar dealings with systemic inequality) – The Alex Stern books by Leigh Bardugo (dark academia setting & anti-hero MC)
