It’s my cousin’s daughter’s birthday tomorrow and she said she wants, “a girl book with chapters.” I got nothing, any suggestions are very appreciated.
When my daughter was that age, she loved the Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell. It’s tailored for 9-12+.

Letters From Rifka by Karen Hesse
This book was assigned to my niece in 3rd (or maybe 4th?) grade. She read this aloud to me when I was visiting my sister and her family. It was a great book and memorable bonding experience.

Matilda by Roald Dahl.

I have recommended this to many people because it’s my fave and lesser known: The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne Valente. It’s beautiful prose and has a smart, strong, but also flawed girl as the MC.

A wrinkle in time.
This book is sci-fi and had an extremely uplifting effect to me when i was that [age.It](http://age.It) is also very interesting

I recently read Stand Up, Yumi Chung! with a 4th grader I tutor! It’s laugh out loud hilarious, but also covers some interesting topics about family and responsibility.
