I recently lost my dog in a really traumatic hit-and-run and have been blaming myself and having flashbacks. I tend to read into my traumas (it helps) so I’m looking for books that explore the kind of specific trauma and grief that comes with a sudden accident (not necessarily about a dog). So far, I’ve just picked up The Discomfort of Evening, but haven’t started it yet. Anything else? Thanks friends.

A Leg to Stand On by Oliver Sacks
Also, try [playing Tetris](https://theconversation.com/can-playing-tetris-help-prevent-ptsd-if-youve-witnessed-something-traumatic-226736) for a while. It may not work as well this long after your trauma, but it might.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I’m very sorry.
*The Art of Racing in the Rain* – Stein. Enzo, the dog narrator, drops some very zen wisdoms about the arc of life. I loved that and his POV. The plot turns were a little cheap, but I cried like a baby.
Edit: there is an accident and near miss peripheral to the plot, but this is basically a story by an aging dog (if that feels like it might be too on the nose. ) Again. Sorry for your loss
