I just finished Mexican Gothic, but I think I am interested in a novel with more Mexican culture

I just finished Mexican Gothic and it was ok. I was hoping for more Mexico in it instead of it mostly being about a British family. Any recommendations? It doesn’t have to be suspense or anything like that. Maybe a period piece?
