I am feeling like reading some angsty romance. The characters must be 20 or older(I can’t read books where the characters are younger than me). I usually love enemies to lovers but it doesn’t have to be enemies to lovers.
Mind you I won’t read the book if it:
* romanticizes toxic relationships
* romanticizes abuse
* has too many sex scenes(we get they are doing it but it gets repetitive when I am not in the mood for this
* if it has sex scenes then no CNC or SA or anything like this… this is why I don’t seek recommendations from booktok
* the characters are sexist
* has the cheating trope and the FMC forgives him(I am good with miscommunication trope and third act of break up by the end but not cheating)
* the fmc is too naïve(unless she has a character development)
Also I am fine with dark romance/dark topics. I love hurting my feelings. Maybe that won’t get me out of my reading slump but I haven’t read a single book this year.

1. “The Hating Game” by Sally Thorne (enemies-to-lovers romance between two co-workers at a publishing company, the characters are in their late twenties, and while there’s tension and banter, it doesn’t romanticize toxic behavior).
2. “A Court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J. Maas (the second book in the ACOTAR series, featuring Feyre and Rhysand; while it has some steamy scenes, they’re not overly frequent or explicit, and the relationship dynamics are complex without romanticizing abuse or toxic behavior).
3. “The Deal” by Elle Kennedy (college romance where the characters are in their early twenties; while there are some steamy scenes, they’re not excessive, and the story focuses more on the character development and relationship growth).
4. “The Simple Wild” by K.A. Tucker (contemporary romance set in Alaska, featuring characters in their late twenties; it’s not enemies-to-lovers, but there’s a slow-burn romance with realistic relationship dynamics and no toxic behavior).
5. “From Lukov with Love” by Mariana Zapata (slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance centered around figure skating; the characters are in their mid-twenties, and while there’s tension between them, it’s not based on toxic behavior).
