Those are outstanding. The Grapes of Wrath is also a really good classic. It shows the ugliness, the sadness, the struggles of life. But it also portrays a stunning ray of hope in humanity, despite the horrible things people are forced to deal with.

I would suggest starting with a shorted one because it’s your first time. So either 1984 or To Kill A Mockingbird. I have read both and loved both. But I would go for 1984 (it’s my fav.).
