Hi! Bear with me I feel like the actual vibe I’m going for is somewhat hard to explain, but I’m looking for novels, hopefully with heavy lore, with themes like:
* Ancient gods were actually real but were aliens or time travelers with technology
* Characters losing their humanity and/or ascending to godhood or mythical creatures.
* Old races extinct and come into play in the story (kinda like Elder Scrolls with dwemer, etc.)
* Secret societies
* Jesus was real and was actually evil or something
* Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dark Souls / Elden Ring, Neon Genesis Evangelion
* Attack on Titan is a great example of this if you know what I’m talking about
I’m mostly looking for dark fantasy or dark sci-fi, not quite lighthearted novels, but feel free to suggest, anything goes.
From what I’ve heard maybe Malazan or Lord of the Rings fit the bill but I think they are huge to get into so I’m open to other suggestions to get started with.
