i recently experienced healthy obsession over The Invisible Circus by Jennifer Egan. it’s like a john green book for adults — kind of dumb, but super readable/compelling/heart wrenching/etc. (and there is lots of sex in it. which i guess could be a positive or a negative depending on how you roll lol. but it’s a real book, not just smut/romance).
girl’s older sister dies mysteriously in europe, girl follows along her sister’s european adventure to figure out what happened. she meets older boy who knew her sister. chaos ensues
